Jamie-lee Caple (2005)

 In Survivor stories

After being treated with complicated mumps along with many other complications, Jamie-lee Caple was diagnosed with Leukaemia in May 2005 at the age of 14. She went from being a care free teenager to a young girl fighting for her life. She then spent the next 6 months in and out of hospital.

Her lifesaving transplant was done on 28 October 2005. Jamie-lee was extremely lucky to have found a non-related donor so soon, as the chances of a match are 1 in 100 000. “Having a life threatening illness so young, has taught me to enjoy life to the fullest and not take life for granted. Every day is a blessing,” said Jamie-lee.

“For my 10 year anniversary I would like to increase the number of people on the Registry in the hope that we can find a match for someone and save their life! The South Coast really did so much for me and it will never be forgotten. I feel it is now time to give of my time and help save a life, just as everyone else did for me 10 years ago”, continues Jamie-lee.
